The Peculiar Family Support Program
Strong families are the foundation of healthy communities. Yet many families in Uganda struggle under the weight of poverty, abandonment, illness, or displacement. When families break down, children are left vulnerable to abuse, neglect, or dropping out of school. Widows and single parents are often forced to make impossible choices between feeding their children and meeting other essential needs.
The Peculiar Family Support Program, under The Peculiar Love Foundation, was established to strengthen families, restore dignity, and provide a safety net in times of crisis. We believe that when families are stable, children flourish, and entire communities are uplifted. Guided by faith and compassion, this outreach provides both practical and spiritual support to households in need.
What We Do
The Family Support Program is holistic in nature, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs:
-
Emergency Relief: We provide immediate support for families facing crisis situations such as loss of a breadwinner, sudden illness, fire outbreaks, or displacement. This includes food packages, clothes, bedding, and temporary shelter support.
Home Restoration: Many vulnerable families live in unsafe or dilapidated shelters. We help with basic home repairs, provision of mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, and essential household items.
Parental Empowerment: Through counseling and workshops, we guide parents on nurturing their children with love, discipline, and biblical values.
Counseling & Prayer: Families receive spiritual and emotional support through prayer visits, Bible study sessions, and mentorship that encourage healing and reconciliation.
Economic Strengthening: Where possible, we help parents and guardians start small businesses or farming projects to generate income and sustain their households long-term.
Impact
The Family Support Program has brought healing and stability to countless homes. Families once on the brink of collapse have been restored, children once homeless are now safe, and parents once hopeless are regaining the confidence to provide for their families.
One testimony after another reveals the difference this program makes: a widow able to keep her children in school after receiving small business capital, a family restored to dignity after their leaking roof was repaired, or children rescued from the streets and reintegrated back into loving homes.
Partnerships & Volunteers
This program thrives through partnerships with donors, local churches, and volunteers who give financially, donate household items, or provide skills training. Volunteers also engage in home visits, counseling, and prayer ministry, bringing the love of Christ directly into family settings.
Why It Matters
When families break, children suffer. But when families are supported and strengthened, hope rises not only in the household but also in the wider community. The Peculiar Family Support Program exists to ensure that no family has to walk through hardship alone. By standing with vulnerable families, we bring light into dark situations and demonstrate the heart of God, who is Himself a Father to the fatherless and a defender of families.

Widows and orphans represent some of the most vulnerable groups. Cultural stigma, economic hardship, and lack of support systems leave widows isolated and struggling to provide for their families. Orphans, on the other hand, often grow up without parental love, guidance, or basic provision, making them highly vulnerable to poverty, abuse, and exploitation.
