The Peculiar Annual Christmas Package Delivery

The Peculiar Annual Christmas Package Delivery is one of the most anticipated and impactful outreach programs of The Peculiar Love Foundation. Every December, as families around the world gather to celebrate Christmas, many vulnerable households in Uganda face the painful reality of lacking even the simplest meal or gift to mark the season. Widows, single mothers, orphans, the elderly, and entire communities often go through the holidays in silence and need.

This program was birthed out of a heart to share the true meaning of Christmas — the love of Christ — in both word and action. It is not just about giving material gifts, but about restoring joy, dignity, and hope to those who would otherwise be forgotten during the festive season.

What We Do

Each year, teams of volunteers, church members, and partners gather to package and distribute Christmas hampers to hundreds of families. These packages often include:

  • Food items (rice, beans, maize flour, sugar, salt, cooking oil, and meat or chicken where possible)
Clothing and shoes for children and adults
    Soap and hygiene items
    Toys and gifts for children
Bibles and gospel tracts to encourage families spiritually

The outreach goes beyond just handing out items. Our teams spend time with families, praying, singing carols, and ministering the Word of God, reminding them that they are loved and valued. For many children, this is the only time they receive a gift, and for many families, it is the only time in the year they are able to share a special meal together.

Impact

The Christmas Package Delivery currently reaches over 300 vulnerable families each year in rural communities such as Sironko District and beyond. The joy, tears, and gratitude expressed by recipients testify to the power of love in action. Many widows and orphans testify that they feel “seen by God” because of the timely support. Children who once dreaded the Christmas season now look forward to it with excitement.

But the greatest impact goes beyond the packages. The program has become a doorway for the Gospel, allowing us to connect families to local churches, discipleship programs, and other long-term support initiatives run by The Peculiar Love Foundation.

Partnerships & Volunteers

This outreach is made possible through generous donations from individuals, families, and ministry partners who sponsor packages or contribute food, clothing, and finances. Volunteers help with packaging, logistics, distribution, and ministering to families during the delivery. The program embodies the principle of “many hands, one heart” — as each contribution, big or small, becomes part of a collective act of love.

Why It Matters

Christmas is a season of joy, yet for the poor, the orphaned, and the widowed, it can often feel like the loneliest time of the year. The Peculiar Annual Christmas Package Delivery bridges that gap by saying, “You are not forgotten. God loves you, and we love you too.”

Through this outreach, we don’t just give food and gifts — we give hope, dignity, and a reminder of the greatest gift ever given: Jesus Christ.

Widows and orphans represent some of the most vulnerable groups. Cultural stigma, economic hardship, and lack of support systems leave widows isolated and struggling to provide for their families. Orphans, on the other hand, often grow up without parental love, guidance, or basic provision, making them highly vulnerable to poverty, abuse, and exploitation.

Strong families are the foundation of healthy communities. Yet many families in Uganda struggle under the weight of poverty, abandonment, illness, or displacement. When families break down, children are left vulnerable to abuse, neglect, or dropping out of school.
