The Peculiar Annual Medical Camp

The Peculiar Annual Medical Camp

The Peculiar Annual Medical Camp is designed to bring essential healthcare services to some of the most underserved communities in Uganda. Many rural areas lack adequate health facilities, and families often go years without proper medical attention due to poverty, long distances, or limited infrastructure. In response, our medical camp was birthed to bridge this gap by offering free, accessible, and holistic healthcare to individuals and families who would otherwise go without.

What We Do

Each year, the camp is set up in a strategically chosen community, often in rural districts where access to healthcare is minimal. With the help of volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and medical students, we provide a wide range of services, including:

  • General Health Screenings & Treatment: Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses such as malaria, respiratory infections, diarrhea, and skin diseases.

  • Maternal and Child Health: Prenatal check-ups, safe delivery advice, immunizations, and education for mothers on nutrition and childcare.

  • Eye and Dental Care: Eye screening, provision of reading glasses, cataract detection, dental extractions, and oral hygiene awareness.

  • HIV/AIDS Testing & Counseling: Confidential testing and counseling services, as well as education on prevention, treatment, and stigma reduction.

  • Health Education & Preventive Care: Teaching communities about sanitation, nutrition, safe water use, and disease prevention to ensure long-term health improvements.

  • Spiritual Support: Alongside medical care, patients receive prayer, counseling, and encouragement — reflecting Christ’s love in both physical healing and spiritual restoration.

Impact

The Annual Medical Camp serves hundreds of patients each year, many of whom have never been attended to by a trained health professional before. For widows, orphans, and families living in extreme poverty, these camps provide relief, dignity, and hope. The impact goes beyond immediate treatment — through health education, preventive measures, and referrals, we empower communities to take control of their well-being.

Partnerships & Volunteers

This initiative thrives through partnerships with hospitals, local health centers, medical professionals, and Christian volunteers. Pharmaceutical donations, medical supplies, and financial support from friends and well-wishers make it possible to run the camp each year. Many volunteers testify that the medical camp is not just a service, but also a mission field where they minister through healing and compassion.

Why It Matters

In Uganda, thousands die each year from preventable or treatable conditions simply because healthcare is out of reach. By organizing the Peculiar Annual Medical Camp, we step into the gap to save lives, reduce suffering, and show Christ’s compassion in action. The camp is more than a medical program — it is a life-saving mission, a testimony of God’s love, and a beacon of hope for those who need it most.

The Peculiar Widows and Orphans Support Program

Widows and orphans represent some of the most vulnerable groups. Cultural stigma, economic hardship, and lack of support systems leave widows isolated and struggling to provide for their families. Orphans, on the other hand, often grow up without parental love, guidance, or basic provision, making them highly vulnerable to poverty, abuse, and exploitation.

Strong families are the foundation of healthy communities. Yet many families in Uganda struggle under the weight of poverty, abandonment, illness, or displacement. When families break down, children are left vulnerable to abuse, neglect, or dropping out of school.

The Peculiar Annual Christmas Package Delivery

Every December, as families around the world gather to celebrate Christmas, many vulnerable households in Uganda face the painful reality of lacking even the simplest meal or gift to mark the season. Widows, single mothers, orphans, the elderly, and entire communities often go through the holidays in silence and need.
